Camp at the Farm in Winnebago is home-away-from-home for individuals with disabilities. Situated on a peaceful 40-acre farm with a pond, activity “inn” and barn about nine miles west of Rockford, camp is where friends come together to enjoy sports, games, arts, crafts, equine therapy, swimming, performing arts and more.
This is also “respite camp,” because we provide reliable, one-on-one care, as necessary, so caregivers and families can plan vacation time away from the responsibilities of their loved ones.
We have 16 wonderful campers each week, eight women and eight men. They are supported every day by the camp director, a head dorm counselor – who directly supervises the counselors – a nurse, a cook and kitchen assistant, awake overnight staff, program director, and seven counselors.
Our counselors are selected for their backgrounds, concern for others and the ability to get along with people from all walks of life.
Because many of our campers don’t have the means – which is most of our campers – we offer full or partial “camperships” to cover the $1,500 weekly cost for those who qualify.
